This Summer Somerset Art Works will be offering Pollinator themed, family workshops every Tuesday during the school summer holidays in Lyngford Park
11am – 3pm **FREE**
Tuesday 27 July | Ladybird Ladybird fly away home |
A pollinator and bug habitat treasure hunt around your local park to see how we can make where we live more pollinator friendly. Workshop creating bug hotels to welcome our many legged friends into our neighbourhood along with ideas and plants to take home to your own garden. Sarah and Ivy Langley
Tuesday 03 August | A Bee’s Eye View |
Shrink yourself down to the size of an insect. We will make large scale inky drawings of bees, insects and the flowers they visit to discover how pollinators and plants work together. We will have our magnifying glasses and drawing tools at the ready to create a large inky pollinator habitat. Julia Mckenzie
Tuesday 10 August | Buzzing About |
Make a mask and wings of an insect from card, which you can wear and buzz about, imagining you are pollinating flowers. Megan Players
Tuesday 17 August | The Fours Bs – Butterflies, Bats, Birds and Bees |
Paint and print large cut-out images of butterflies, bats, birds and bees and attach them to split canes. These colourful and lively creations can be put in the garden on a dry day to bend in the wind reminding us of the essential role of pollinators in our world. Annie Musgrove and Ann King
Tuesday 24 August | Pollinator Printmaking |
Printmaking using recycled sticky back foam off cuts – cut out pollinator shapes, stick onto corrugated card, ink up and print. Megan Players
Tuesday 31 August | Wire Making Workshop |
Creating small creatures – especially insects – from found materials. Explore, design and create your own fantastical 2D or 3D artwork inspired by the wonders of our natural world, using colourful wire, recycled twine, decorative beads, buttons and bottletops. Through imagination, you will learn how to transform everyday materials into wonderful small sculptures. With Fiona Campbell. |
